Canterbury Tales - The Plan

So again it seems September is a traditional time for me to take a walking holiday.
I will have exchanged the glorious warmth of Spain in September for the English countryside in the autumn time.
This presents a new logistical challenge of having to deal with likely colder weather and inclement weather to boost, which means I will have to have some gear review and see what I will want to take with me on this trip.
However I'm happy to say that I am committed to the plan, and have booked the time off. From September 1st - 8th I will be on the roads and by ways on my way to Canterbury. The distance of 71 miles shouldn't take me that long, but I have the intention of spending some time by the sea side to recuperate as well.
The route will be Southwark Cathedral to Canterbury, one of the three existing routes, that joins up with the Winchester route. The brilliant people at the British Pilgrimage Trust have discovered a third route that starts in Southhampton and ends in Broadstairs of all places. So there are two other routes to work through at some point in the future as well.
There is also a lot of temptation to do St. Magnus pilgrimage in Orkney, though I will wait and see with that, if I can time it right with a trip to Shetland, then I might be able to see Up Helly Aa in Lerwick and do the walk. But Canterbury first.
